Dinajpur district is one of the oldest and largest districts of Rangpur division in the northwestern part of Bangladesh. Dinajpur is an "A" class district of Bangladesh according to the number of sub-districts. Dinajpur district is the largest among the 16 districts of North Bengal by area. Dinajpur district is bounded by Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts to the north, Gaibandha district and Jaipurhat district to the south, Nilphamari district and Rangpur district to the east and West Bengal of India to the west. The total area of this district is about 3438 square kilometers. The district consists of 13 police stations, 6 circles, 6 investigation centers.
